15-year-old charged in Saginaw school shooting:
Clarence W. Russell III was arraigned Friday afternoon and held without bond on one count of assault with intent to murder and five felony firearms charges, Saginaw police Sgt. Mark Lively said.
Russell is accused of shooting fellow sophomore Daniel Foster of Saginaw once in the chest. Foster was in critical but stable condition at a Saginaw hospital Friday afternoon and is expected to recover, police said.
Saginaw County Prosecutor Michael D. Thomas said the shooting is “kind of gang related,” but he would not say how authorities determined that.
Mother says threats prompted shooting:
Sphere: Related ContentAnn Jamrog, 34, her son arraigned on an attempted murder charge Friday, said weeks of South Side gang members’ escalating threats forced her son’s showdown with 15-year-old Daniel Foster.
The troubled started when Russell chose to move out of a North Side home, which he shared with his father and where he grew up, when he was released from a juvenile detention, she said.
South Side warnings not to enroll in Saginaw High came, but it was her son’s last resort. Open enrollment windows elsewhere had closed, she said.
