I am so tired of hearing about the 5 year old in Florida who got handcuffed by the cops. And why is everyone jumping all over the cops’ shit? You know the cops just didn’t appear out of nowhere. Someone had to call them. That someone had to have been the school. It seems to me that the school had an unruly child that they didn’t feel like dealing with. Rather then try to restrain the child themselves they’d rather call the police in. Now remember this was a child who repeatedly punched the assistant principal. So to avoid a lawsuit of their own they called the cops. I can imagine that this must have been a nightmare for the cops that were called. What were the cops supposed to do? It’s not like they laid a Rodney King style beating on her. They restrained her because the school wouldn’t. The school was passing the buck on to police rather than doing their job. Then all the whiners started saying..“Oh were living in fascist police state. The police are abusing their authority. They should have never handcuffed a precious little girl like that”. Bullshit. How about getting on the school for not disciplining an out of control kid. Better yet why not get on the parent(s) for raising such an obnoxious brat? Of course lawsuits have broken out all over the place. If I were the cops I’d sue the school for wasting their time and resources over a matter that should have been handled by the school and the parent(s) for being obviously lacking in parenting skills.

A friend of mine is a school bus driver, he was telling me that he
had an unruly kid on his bus. The teachers aide that rides with him
had to physically restrain the kid! The kid would hit people and
spit on them.
I told him that I would not allow that kid back on the bus. I would
be sending a letter to his/her parents stating that because of the
kids behaivor, it was unsafe for the driver and the other kids.
That the parents would have to make other arrangements for the kid
to get to school and back home.
He said he would love to, but they are not allowed to do that! When
I was in school, if you screwed around on the bus you would get kicked
off. Let alone hit and spit on people! You know, since the kid is a
minority, that the parents will probably play the race card. Even
if they do know that their kid is a problem child aka pain in the ass!
I know that our busses did have video cameras at one time. I wonder
if they still do? Might be a good idea to record the brat and make
the parents watch what the driver and students have to put up with.
I’m not sure if you read it or not but 4 officers arrived to this complaint and 2 of them were brand new (meaning it was their first day) and they admitted they honestly had no idea what to do so they followed the protocol for the situation (which I’m sure there was none for a 5 year old but they went on what they would have done for the average person). I agree the school should have done more but once the child gets violent I can understand that calling the police to avoid beating the child myself would be the best bet. What do you do to a 5 year old girl who continues to assault the assistant principle? You can punish her but if she keeps kicking and throwing objects at you there’s not much you can do asside from calling the parents (which they did do but the parents were to busy to come to the school, they only arrived after they heard their child was in the back of a police car). I agree the blame be on the parents but I feel bad for the school because had this been a middle school or high school then they would have been doing the right thing, but this wasn’t. I think it’s time people open their eyes and realize that in these times it’s better to be safe than sorry and if that means handcuffing an out of control minor to resume peace and order than so be it. Especially after reading the article you posted about the 9-12 year olds who were plotting to bring a gun to school. Imagine if they allowed this 5 year old girl to get away with here outbursts, she’d just continue until she did finally get arrested for it, better to cure the problem early before she can read and find out: “Hey, I can bring a gun to school and they can’t stop my outburst then.” Sad sad world.
This is why I stopped wanting to be a teacher.
I just would have basically picked her up and put her in a bear hug and supressed her until she calmed down. But that’s me, and I probably would have a lawsuit on my hands now. Oh well. I say the cops follow along with the arguments about them being abusing their powers, and go arrest the parents. But that’s just me and my vengeful side coming out.
DBB, not the bear hug. Use the sleeper hold.
Unfortunately, in today’s society, if anyone other than the cops had laid a finger on this little girl, no matter how badly she was acting, they would have lost their job at the very least. Calling the police was too much, but it wasnt’ the first time the school’d had to do it. Parents today won’t say boo to their kid, but if a teacher tries to punish their precious baby, all hell breaks loose. I don’t blame the school or the police at all. She’d been warned by the police before that she’d be arrested if she kept up the behavior.
I was trying to be nice though. Otherwise I would put her in a full nelson. That’ll teach her to act out in my classrom!
I’d also bring back the paddle. Screw “time-outs” these kids need some beatings!
On a side note; I don’t condone unneccesary abuse of kids, only when they’re being little pricks and acting out. Then it’s okay to slap them on the rump, or roll their head up in the car window.
you can watch the video of it and clearly see that the child needed restraining.

Sadly, eternalheart has it right.
It’s easy to blame the teachers, but when you know that taking any action could likely result in a suit against the school and/or yourself, as well as the end of your career… what can you do?
Instead, I blame the law for allowing bullshit suits like that in courtrooms.
We have a culture and a society obsessively paranoid about hurting our children, and it’s doing far more damage to them than a few spankings ever could.
Obviously, chances are that most of the fault lies with the parent(s) in this case, but remember that even at this age there are a few valid psychological disorders that could cause this behavior even if she has good parents. (Tourettes Syndrome, which can manifest in some cases at age two, etc)
Thus the reason I reserve judgment unless I know the family. Usually.
Oh, and I was young so I don’t remember it very well, but the prinicipal of the school I went to kindergarten at (moved before first grade) had a paddle hanging outside of his office. This was only seventeen years ago, mind you, and I’m not sure he ever used it, but it was adequately intimidating enough to cut down on discipline problems, especially among the younger students.
Sadly I am appalled by the posting on this web site. There is no way she should have been handcuffed
Did anyone actually see the video…when the cops came in she was actually sitting calming in a chair.
Not running around punching anyone. I imagine that under your logic….if someone commits a violent crime,
if they are sitting calmly when the cops arrive, the cops should just shoot them. I will admit the school
should have done more and the parent should have gotten off her butt and come to the school when called.
But handcuffing a little five year old is reprehensible. ANd no one mentioned this I can see, but if she
had been a little white girl…this wouldn’t have happened…..no WAY……..
Sadly, you’re missing the point. The police should have never been called at all. This is a problem that the school should have dealt with before calling the cops. To blame the cops is to deflect where the responsibility truly lies.
Sadly, you’re a fucking moron!
I’m guessing all you got to see was the last 2 minutes of the video. There was a little over a hour of footage and the little shit wasn’t sitting during any of it. She WAS running around, she WAS tearing apart the classroom and principals office, and SHE WAS hitting the asst principal.
What would you suggest the school have done? I would love to hear this. Because if they had restrained her in any way… they would be sued for racism and fucking Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson would be all over the news screaming for blood because no one does that to white kids. Oh wait your stupid fucking racist ass said that too. As for the parent… she’s doing what the lords of anti-white are telling her to do. if the kid had her ass kicked a few times at home maybe she wouldn’t act out this way, but I’m sure that she is babysat well by the television.
The cops were called because its better to have the law involved than the school taking matters in their own hands. Its called “scared straight” and it has been proven to work. I’m behind the cops, and support having this kid placed in jail as soon as she starts smoking crack.

BTW, feel free to follow the link I gave above. The 2 tapes are still available and you can see what the kid was up to.
Leave your liberal news coverage at the door and try to visualize facts when you open your mouth.

Not try to start a flame war or anything, but was it really necessary to send in 4 cops to handcuff some 60 lb. 5-year-old. Strikes me as a waste of taxpayer money. I mean, surely the school officials are more than capable of restraining the child in a way that: a) maintains order in the classroom, and b) doesn’t hurt the child.
The problem is, The School can’t win one way or the other. They can’t let the kid run wild… it affects the normal children. They can’t restrain or discipline the child in ANY manor… the parents can sue for abuse. They couldn’t get the mother to handle the problem… her job was more important than the welfare of her kid. So they took the 2nd most appropriate option… have law enforcement officers enforce a punishment. That leaves the problem in the hands of the government, which will hopefully give educators (in time) more hand in situations like this.
BTW… the 1st most appropriate option would have been to expel the child permanently and let the mother try to figure out how to educate her out of control child. But then again… someone somewhere would still cry racism. Because the poor little black kids don’t get a fair chance from mean ol whitey.
The little girl deserved a spanking. Her parent’s probably deserve some discipline as well… apparently they haven’t taught her to respect authority or any rules. Future generations are screwed.. when is the pendulum going to swing back?
