Minnesota Killer was a Pothead:
Well it is “420″ so what would today be without another pot story?

Normally I don’t use right wing propaganda sites as sources but the author does bring up a good point. Why was the media so quick to jump on the fact that Jeff Weise was on Prozac but hardly touched upon his self professed marijuana usage?

An AP Story that ran in USA Today said that Weise posted information about his own mental state in the months before he killed nine people and himself. But the story failed to note that his comments included favorable references to using marijuana or MJ. Weise said, “MJ is my gal of choice.” A March 25 Washington Post article by Blaine Harden and Dana Hedgpeth said Weise had serious mental problems but ignored the pot connection. A March 24 Post article by Ceci Connolly and Dana Hedgpeth described “a deeply disturbed youth who had been treated for depression in a psychiatric ward,” was taking the antidepressant Prozac, and had been hospitalized for suicidal tendencies. But the Post story didn’t mention his marijuana addiction. The story did wonder “what triggered Jeff Weise’s deadly outburst.”

Personally I don’t believe that the Prozac or the pot had anything to do with Jeff Weise shooting up the school but it does make interesting reading.

  1. now i have smoked a lot of mary jane in my days and not ONCE, never ever, ever have i felt like killing myself and/or anyone else… the only thing i got was relaxed and the munchies… i also take zoloft which i believe is along the same line as prozac (although i could be wrong, i am not doctor but i do play one on tv) BUT, i only feel like killing someone and then myself if i dont take my pill…… so maybe it was that he should have taken his pill and smoked a little to chill out before the shooting spree

  2. SO TRUE dRc,

Shyt, I started smoking, and it chilled me out. And I was getting upset, real upset and sick of getting picked on about that time too, but, I started smoking, and BAM! “Man f*ck them, I ain’t worried about them. You hate me, cuz you ain’t me!” lol…. nah but, I just think they are trying to pin another thing on marijuana, so they have another excuse to keep it illegal, but it’s all bullshyt. Jeff Weise just went nuts and did something so incredibly dumb/horrible, that he’s rotting in hell for it now……

  3. I never took Prozac, Zoloft, or any prescribed mood enhancement drug. But I know many-a-persons who do. This is what I have noticed. Prozac turns its victims into zombies. I don’t put it down only because many people need it. As far as pot goes… I’ve done plenty. I don’t think anyone has gone on a murderous rampage because of weed, unless by murderous you mean munchies run and rampage you mean 7-11.

  4. I no longer smoke pot but from being a recent high school graduate and currently a college student employeed at Dominos Pizza, I can say I’ve seen more than my fair share of potheads and in my experiences I can honestly say that I can not recall a time when any of them have ever been high and remotely violent at the same time… If they want to attribute anything Jeff did to his pot use, then I guess his weight could be pinned on it, but being fat never caused people to murder other people, except over waiting in line at the drive-thru.

  5. Hah. Medicine effects everyone differntly, but just because a a killer/shooter takes medicine doesn’t mean it will always be the reason he or she did it.

[I take Zoloft, which does nothing but get me sick and then puts me on a little "high".]
